Hi im misha, been lurkin here for a while.Ive got a CA swapped s13 that was givving me trouble, finished the swap at the begining of summer, and just got all the kinks iorned out recently, the car runs like a dream, so a few hours ago i was cruising on I75 and a new GTO decided to mess with me. this is the first time my car runs good in about a year so i tried to keep up, nevertheless he pulled on me,(btw those things rear ends sit down when they goose it and they sound sick)anywho, the real question is, am i special?: the car will rev to over 7300 and wont cut out, and i bueried the needle, bueried it good, past 5000 Rpm in fifth, and no cut out, the KA used to shut down at 115mph. This engine, the needle hit the trim on the bottm of the speedo and she kept pulling , is it a japaneese thing or is my ecu special?oh and ill post picks of the swap soon.

their speed limiters are set in kmh not mph. that could be one thing. it may think 120mph is 120kmh. i think the speed limiters are set at 180kmh?

also if when you did your swap you may have not hooked up your transmission sensors. there are a few known ways to get past the speed limiter.

more then likely you have an automatic ecu with a manual transmission.

Stock rev limit on the CA is 7700rpm so that's no surprise. Speed cut is 180km/h on both auto and manual ECU's and I'm pretty sure the ECU doesn't take its reading from the speedo on the dash. I'm not sure exactly how the auto and manual differ in wiring so Squirrel could be on to something. Is there anything else done to the engine? If it's been tuned for anything it's pretty much a given the speed limiter has been removed. Any kind of stickers on the ECU casing? Bothered to crack it open to see if the rom is socketted?

theres JEGS stickers on it but i think thats factory, and i swapped the fifth gear sensor from the us transmission, to the jdm one. and no i didnt crack the ECU yet, i just discovered this yesterday, ill look though, it took me by surprise cus the KA stutters itself off at exactly 115, but this engine kept pulling. it was weird.
