So I was taking appart my intake box in my 89 JDM s13. And there seems to be some sort of clip attatched to my stock intake box at the bottom half. when i unclip it the car wont even start and if its on it just dies out. It seems to be spliced in with my MAFS, BUT its just like bolted onto the bottom half of the intake box. It doesent seem like it has much of anything to really do with the intake box it's just spliced into the MAFS wirieng harness. So question is if I want to put in a intake filter wtf do I do with the little box thing thats mounted onto my intake box. if this seems confusing I will get pictures!!! But any help is great!

Nicholas

Sounds like a ghetto ground to me. Peel back the electrical tape and behold the sins of the previous owner.

He has a point, but now that I really read it I can tell you what is happening. That's the dropping resistor for you injectors. Unplug= no fuel. You can undo the two 10mm bolts to free it from the air box .

so what do I do with it then where can I bolt it? and will I need it still if I upgrade my MAF or injectors or FPR?

take it off the box and just let it sit there under your nifty new air cleaner.

Upgrade for what, the air cleaner?

You need the resistor because the injectors are low impedance and without it they would fry the ECU so leave it.
