Currently running a '94 JDM VH41 and need to know whether the block is compatible with any of the VH45. Due to a combination of limited numbers of 41s in Aus and the cost of rebuild parts, I am hoping to fit a VH45 which are more readily available. Due to limited space I wanted to use some of the bracketry of the 41 for the bolt ons such as Power steering, A/C and Alt. etc

It is not directly cross compatable from what I understand. Some parts are but not the blocks.

I've tried to reply but you don't seem to have enabled your incoming PM's. Unfortunately there is not enough room to fit the VH45 in the early Patrols due to the way the alt, P/S & A/C mount so if I can't use the bracketry of the 41 on the 45 then I'll have to keep looking for one or rebuild mine.

Mine was severely overheated about 18 months ago and although everything seemed to be fine (once I'd replaced the water pump and knock sensors), there is now evidence that the head gasket is shot or the head is warped/cracked. No oil in water or vice versa but the cooling system is pressurising badly and running much hotter than normal. There are also heaps of bubbles in the coolant at higher revs cavitating the coolant to the point of froth.

With the price of gaskets alone here in Oz, the cheapest/quickest/easiest solution is find another motor and either keep this one for spares or rebuild it at a more affordable pace. Ultimately I'd like to do like Mettler did with the VH41 Stroker

I believe the VH45 JDM crank will fit the 41 block
