Yes, that is a kouki bumper. These were on all 180SX's from 1996.5-1998, not only TypeX.

TypeX is a trim in Japan, just like SE and LE are trims for 240SX. Kouki bumper is a style, just like S14 240SX's have zenki and kouki front ends. To say 1997 180SX's had the TypeX bumper would be as incorrect as saying 1997 240SX's had the SE bumper.

REMEMBER THIS, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

i see, i thought 1996.5-1998 S13 base looked the same as the earlier ones, and the type x was an aero package, doh.

http://www.gpsports-na.com/aero/type2.htm

they make a similar bumper as that, not quite exact, but I think it looks as nice. not sure what their kits are made of tho.

you can find EastBear side skirts which are replicas of the kouki side skirts here:

Some 180SXs had aero packages, some didn't but the 1996.5-1998 front bumpers were all the same style. 1991-1996.5 180SXs had the same front bumper as 1991-1994 240SXs (chuki style), and some of these 180SXs were TypeX (as that trim was available 1994+ if i can remember correctly).

To me, that bumper makes the S13 look like the old 88-92 Supra...???
