Did you read the Detroit Free Press? Some of the "major" problems that JD looked at where wind noise, mileage per gallon and excessive brake wear.

In my books wind noise is a minor issue especially if the vehicle is an SUV (owners should come to expect it) and brakes are a maintenence issue. Every vehicle I have ever owned has had warped rotors at one time or another. Brakes are a maintenance issue based on how much you drive.

Mileage per gallon as proble area is pure fluff. It is is one of those issues owners shouldn't complain about if they bought a gas guzzler.

In my opinions they should be looking for issues relating to transmission failures, cooling system failures, engine or engine component failures (i.e. sensors).

Why doesn't JD publish there methodology for conducting this survey. Do certain areas score more nagative points than others or are they weighted the same?

Yeah, I was about to ask if anyone knew their scoring system.

Also, they class vehicles purely by size. Size doesn't mean jack crap. They should be looking at CLASSES of cars. Full size SPORT sedan. Full size LUXURY sedan, Full size RWD SPORT sedan--all should be seperate. There's no way the LeSabre is a better car than the Maxima, Avalon, or TL. No way in hell.

Same for sports cars. Best premium sports car...how about some MSRP classifications? Porsche wouldn't be leading if they restricted price categories. Porsche would suddenly be screwed.

The escalade is NOT a pickup. Is the bed seperate from the body? It HAS to be, or else it's an SUV.

I'd like to see how the RX is possibly better than the Pilot or the Murano/FX. It's pimp looking and mommies like it, that's why it won. And it's the only one with hybrid models available. Stupid car-politics.

The T-Bird is not luxury! HOLY s***! It's a luxury sport coupe. Entry luxury is the Infiniti G20 and the Cadillac CTS! The t-bird is an aluminum V8 musclecar.

I could go on.

Grrr..
