The sr20 is illegal in the states right... and they usually dont pass inspection without modification... so how do you people get away with having these 300hp monsters? oh by the way i did search before posting this.

well first off, dont tell your insurance. Put the engine in stock then get it smog tested, it should pass if you know what you're doing. Then tune away. Plus you gotta be smart about having an engine so powerful. Don't flaunt it everywhere to everyone and brag that your engine is illegal

many of cities don't have E checks like mine. Columbus Ohio. So we can mod all we want and not have to worry. On top of no smog testing here, I guess the police are not allowed to bend down and look at your exhuast as well. It turns out some police officer started to look under a car that they pulled over. As the officer went down to check for a cat he severely burned himself on the exhuast. So now the cops are not allowed to even do that. Its rather funny becuase over half the tuned street cars in columbus have large black stains on their rear bumpers from running open exhuast!!!!

The biggest place you'll run into a problem in is California and Arizona. Most places are as stringent. In CA, you can go as far as to get a swap certification, but this process is long and difficult.
