Well, first off, what year of college are you in? Most universities have exchange programs with sister colleges in Japan which allow you to study for a year over there. All classes will be taught in English though, so if you want to learn Japanese you will have to do so on your own time.
Once you obtain your B.A. or B.S. you can apply to the JET program which sets you up as an assistant English teacher in a junior high, or highschool setting. They don't pay much, but some will provide housing, and you don't have to work much. Basically you're a human dictionary for the real English teachers. Again, no Japanese is required and you will have to learn on your own.
I've never met a person who returned from the JET program with a real grasp of the Japanese language, you may be different, but I suggest you get a solid foundation in the language before going over there.
It's a difficult language, I've taken 4 years of Japanese in college, my wife is Japanese, I've spent months and months in Japan, and my speaking is still only at the intermediate level. Good luck with it, it's definately worth while.
