So far I've seen a few stats that pretty much indicate that this went viral AFTER the article and went from a secluded bunch of perverts to the scourge of the internet at large. Way to grant a 6000% increase in the popularity of something that is supposed to be "morally reprehensible."

Last time I checked there are games that glorify killing and even torture, and lord knows there's tons of adult movies with this theme so I don't even see what the big deal is. It's creepier than clown p0rn, yes, but not exactly unprecedented.
