Is there any particular jack that you would recommend that also could be used as a safe alternative spare tire jack? say going on a long trip to a track or tail of the dragon trip.

Why would you not use the factory jack? Its plenty strong for tire changes, i wouldn't lay under the car with it on the aluminum jack but then I'm apprehensive being under the car when its on a lockout lift.

We know all about the TOTD. We actually hold a NICOfest there every year.

But yeah, the factory jack is plenty strong for roadside work. I've got a big, low profile floor jack for the garage, though, and I still have to pull the damn thing up on a set of ramps I made.

im looking for something that would allow me under the car with the full spare as extra safety and the spare jack as a stand. say i drag and tear something loose and only accessable from the bottom and need to remove or refasten before moving on.

in that case I'd recommend you keep a jack stand or two with you, if thats a worry. I wouldnt be caugh dead (excuse the pun) under my Z with just the scissor jack or two holding it up.

Yeah, I'm with Anton 100% on that one. I jacked my TT up to change a tire, and the damn jack twisted on me. (I don't mean rotated in place, but rather torqued sideways like it was about to bend and collapse in half. I got the new tire on and got it lowered, but damn that was scary. I can't imagine working on it under a scissor jack.
