I have been searching this site for info on a transmission cooler install for the J30, and all i have found are posts with installs on the Q. does anyone have any suggestions on the install, where to mount, which lines should be cut, how hard is the job on the J?? does the transmission have any external filters like the Q? I have also been looking for info on installing larger injectors /MAF. any suggestions, comments, does anybody know the power increase/loss??? they are greatly appriciated!!!! Brian

I'm guessing you could install it pretty much the same was as in the Q. You need to measure the gap between the radiator and condenser, then compare that to the dimensions of the cooler, which should be stated by the manufacturer/vendor.Injectors/MAF are probably not limiting factors on a stock J. A port and polish might help a little, but probably not enough to justify the cost. Advancing the timing a couple degrees might be the easiest mod to do, but risky as well, and only if the engine is clean inside and out and working flawlessly.

The J is pretty much maxed out from the factory. It's most limiting aspect is that it is built like a tank. Very heavy and very solid. Probably the best thing you could do is get an aftermarket ECU which will free up some top end rpm.

Weight reduction would make a world of difference in the J. Take out the seats, etc., etc., etc. The car is very plush. Heavy wool carpeting alone probably comes in at least 80 pounds.

Drove the J at 90 mph for a good stretch tonight. At 3200 rpm the car just wants to go. Instant throttle response. VVT doing its thang at that point.

Member Diamond put a reduced rear end in his J and swears by it.
