I have a dark green J30t and the hood has some major oxidation happening. Also the front bumper area has a lot of white specks, almost like paint was splashed on it. What are my options? Is it worth getting a paint job? The rest of the car paint is decent at best – the rear being in the best condition. There are a few dings here and there. I bought the car for $3,000 and have put in @$1,000 so far (timing belt, water pump, belts & hoses, thermostat, front tension rods, transmission flush, oil change, air filter). I sure would value and appreciate any opinions. (Oh, the car has 140,000 miles, transmission in good condition.) Anyone going down this road with their J?

I had oxidation on the front bumper 3 years ago. I took it to a local body shop and they repainted the whole thing (matching the original colour), I think I paid like $140 Canadian. It still look great!

I am getting my whole 95 Q repainted...I have checked around everywhere in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and to get a really good job with R&R of all trim pieces...looking at $5,000+

To get a decent job without R&R of trim...just tape, maybe around $3,500....but you can see the paint on all the trim no matter how good they tape. Ask them to see cars that they have painted...you will see the what I am referring to if you look closely.

Just depends on what you want for your monies. Sounds like you would be better off getting the car wet sanded and then resprayed with clear coat again. This is a much better process from what the other members have said here and also the body shops will tell you that the new paint chips much easier than the OEM paint.

Myself...I have 3 hand size dents and a key mark so I have no option except to repaint.

Take it to a good place and have them repaint the bad parts. Avoid repainting entirely if possible.....

I plan on getting my car airbrushed this summer, as I have a lot of little scratches.....

IF you havent found a place yet, let me know, I had some work done at an excellent shop in Boca (exit 39, I beleive since the renumber), that I would recommned you at least check out. They did a great job, even with some blending, with dupont paints

NY94J30....thanks for recomendation and I am still searching around for my best options.

I checked out a shop today and my jaw about dropped at how bad the finish was. I never saw so much clear coat runs in my life...and of course I get the usual response...."ohh you will not notice that when we are all done....that there clear coat run along the entire fender will be wet sanded and buffed". I don't mind a little run here at there and then wet sanding, but this was a huge bump along the entire fender.

Email me with the contact info or post it here and thanks again.

Ill haveto find the invoice in my records - it was my old J that has since been totaled, so the records are file away somewhere. I beleive it was called A-1 and it is definitely on Powerline Rd. in either Boca or Delray - I will find the invoice and post you the info when I find it

I was thorougly impressed with the work they did - btw, my car was silver.
