I recently had my codes read and found out that my beautiful J that has stood by me faithfully has sprung a small leak in one of the fuel injectors that causes the engine to shake periodically.

The culprit they say is one of the O-rings is most likely busted...but which one?

An OHM test wont do anything if the injector is functioning properly.

The leak isn't bad enough for me to see or smell where it is when the engine is vibrating.

Is there anyway - oh wise forum of J30 owners - for me to find out which injector it is that way I can use the method described here ( http://www.fuzzycats.com/docs/j30_fuel_ ... cement.pdf) and not remove the whole plenum.

Your council is much appreciated.

Code 45? The leak in this case must mean that an injector itself is not closing properly (a piece of debris?) and not necessarily that it is leaking fuel to the outside (fire danger) or from the fuel rail into a cylinder (hydro-lock danger), due to a bad o-ring. Something still might show up in an ohm test, as some sort of electric signal is being communicated from an injector to the ECM. Don't see a code for low fuel pressure, which seems like it would result from an injector staying open.

It's was a failed injector (Code 51 = CEL ON) that first brought me to Nico. Best of luck!

The easiest way would be to plug into the J's consult port with your laptop and Consult program and shut off one cylinder at a time looking for the one that shows no change in engine miss. Shutting down a good cylinder will cause the engine to idle worse. I'd start with ohm testing all 6 injectors which can be done at the main harness connection with a volt meter rather than directly on the injector pins (no plenum removal required).

Where do you live? Maybe another member with the consult program and cable lives close and can help.

So I saw what was involved and man I am glad I took it to a mechanic.

Turns out that two of the fuel injectors were bad on top of leaking o-rings.

The saint of a mechanic charged only $300 to replace the orings and two fuel injectors that were broken. A whole mess of work that I would have lost at least 3 days doing myself if I would have even done it properly.

Just so everyone knows Sang's Auto repair in Lawndale, Los Angeles, CA is a great repair shop. PS. No this is not a comercial, just a great mechanic that I'm more than happy to send business his way.

Hi Rob,

That's a great price, especially if it includes all parts. Thank you for the update and the very good news! :bigthumb:
