For all who read my previous nightmare with a dishonest mechanic who started at the bottom (radiator hose) then worked his way up to telling me I needed a new a/c compressor at $1,200.00 after these repairs in this order: radiator hose (wasn't leaking)--new water pump, due to the 'squealing noise' I began with, when he said the bearing was shot in the pump: it wasn't leaking--all new fan belts (3)(they all were fair)--radiator (it wasn't leaking)--new altenator (he said the bearing was shot, making the noise--a/c pulley bearing (he said that was it all along!--2 days later and the noise came back, blowing out hot air, that's when he said the compressor was shot and would cost $1,200.00. Before I began to see red and cross hairs, I found the source: the man who rebuilds a/c compressors for AutoZone and the major parts houses. He felt my pain (I'm a disabled former Navy SeaL who can't work on cars anymore after a broken back). He will rebuild YOUR compressor and ship it back to you: "Compressor World." 301 E. College St., Alvarado, Texas, 817-790-0110. Tell 'John' that Jason sent you, then duck! 'Just kidding. But this is a great guy who does not deal with mechanics, or really the public at large. Thanks for the one post and 96 reads. Keep this man's addy for future use. Be well--be happy--be J30t kool!jasonsos
