j30 wierd starting problem

my sister has a j30 and when she puts it in neutral or has it in park it just keeps trying to start over and over agian. i will try and get some more info . thanks

starter solenoid is jammed, or the ignition switch is shorted.

most likely the ignition switch since it only does it when the interlock allows [park and neutral]

BTW, unles you meant the early 90's maxima, the Infiniti J30 has no relation to the maxima.

its just a chassis code coincedence

where is the ignition switch at by the way i dont have a manual for her car. thnaks for the help

the ignition switch is behind the ignition lock.

if your going to fix this your most likely going to need an FSM because the steering wheel will most likely need to be removed, and you need a meter to check the switch for a short and trace it if you have to.

i dont have the premium version of acrobat so i cant post individual pages from the FSM.

BTW, this is an infiniti j30 right? or is it a maxima?
