Well, I did it once, and I know it is better if you do not only get the diff because if you are not lucky enough, chances are it is not a bolt on.
I looked up craigslist and I found somebody was parting out a J30. So I went ahead and take the diff, both axles, and all the bolts that was from the J30.
I think it is the best if you have a chance to measure if your diff is the same length as the J30 one. By doing so, you will know you can use the stock drive shaft or not. The other thing to check on the diff is if the output shaft is 5 or 6 bolts. If it is 5, then you need the axle (make sure you get the bolts cause they are bigger than the stock ones from the 6 bolt axles); if 6, then you can use your stock units. And make sure you get the 2 big bolts that holds the diff onto the sub frame (stock ones are too short). After these checks, you can know for sure if the diff can fit in your car.
Hope this helpsJesse Tang
