J30 Vibration While Idle

My J30 started to vibrate for a few seconds when I start the car. After a few seconds, it calms down. It has about 115k. I wonder if it is anything about the timing belt or the oil? I was going to Monro but the last time I went to Jeffy Lubes.

What do you mean when you say vibrating? Is something rattling or is something shaking. If it's something rattling, my guess is it's a loose exhaust heat shield. If it's something shaking, my guess is it's an engine mount. You wouldn't be able to notice your timing belt is loose.

the shake is the car itself for about 5-8 seconds after I start the car. Its like a very light earthquake:) But the shaking doesnt always happen. I changed the oil a few minutes ago. And I will see if that was the problem.

Probably not the oil! Could be a dirty intake. A fuel rail flush might help. The timing belt probablly not the cause, but have you changed it yet? 115k you're overdue I think by 10k.

Yes Dead,You are right. It was not the oil. I thought that could be the reason because it started when I used a different oil.The timing belt was changed at 60k. I have to change it again soon.So should I go for a tune up?

And, the shaking is over(!) This afternoon, my car first consumed 2 gallons of gas for less than 10 miles (smoking almost black) and then didnt start at all. When I try to start the car, it will try to start normally for 1 second, and then a big noise comes from the engine and there is no sound after that. Somebody please tell me it is not something serious:(

2 gallons in less than 10 miles? Sounds like a bad fuel leak. I hope you didn't hydrolock the engine! That would be serious. Hopefully it's just flooded right now and needs to be dried out and have the leak fix. Have you had the injectors removed at all recently?

sounds like a massive injector leak is at the root of your problems.

I had no problems with the injectors so far and they were never removed. This is the first time my `94 J30 doesnt start in her entire life. a friend of mine took a look at it and he talked about spark plugs. I guess they were not changed in the last a few years.well the mechanic is going to look at it on Monday. I still hope its not serious and doesnt require a lot of money to fix it.

I had a smiliar problem. White smoke and Black smoke. I had hydo lock when trying to start the car. Two cyclinders were filled with gas. It look like the injectors. I had all the injectors replaced, expensive. After replacement, I was still getting smoke and very bad idle, drink gas. Nistech from this site help solve the problem. It turned out to be a connection problem on the Transistor Power (TP) unit. It work for about 6 months. The problem is back and I am ordering a new transistor power unit. The other one was used fromt he junk yard.

Your timing belt is almost certainly the new kevlar reinforced type and should be good for 105k from your last change. Sometimes going to Z32.org is a good place to ask VG30DE questions.
