i've ran across a deal to get a clean white nt z32 shell. he's asking 1100. comes with exhaust and a few extras. So it has no runing motor and is automatic (motor is in pieces, taken apart). Would i have any major problems putting in the vg30 from a j30? i just want it to run and I remember seeing one at the pick and pull. I've hear that the oil pan, intake pelnum, and few things are different and should be swaped to make this work. I wanna know if any major modifying is needed or is it all just a swap parts thing from a 300zx vg30de to make it work? would i need the ecu?

agree with widebodyz.....NA 300zx motors are a dime a dozen. Save yourself the trouble and get the right motor.

I figured it's harder to find a na z motor in the junkyards of iowa, i haven't seen one yet. Although now that i remember, my firend had z na 5 spd z that has some suspension damage so he doesn't drive it. Damn, i can get a running z and brake upgrade for the 240.

well JDM suppliers are backed up with N/A motors and can cost as low as half the price of a nice TT motor. You can check out any of your JDM ppl and could find a decent deal. I guess its in how much u want to spend.

I remember a JDM engine and trans package, TT, was like 2500 shipped when I tried to get a quote. I usually just contacted the JDM dealers on ebay and they can set u up with what you need. Buying an N/A motor from them, well your almost doing them a favor at that point. I know a few guys who just rebuild N/A packages to TT spec because they are too hard to pitch off as just N/A.

I just want a nice crusier alternate to my 240. I don't know of any jdm importers here in iowa that exsist. so yeah, finding just an na from a 300zx is pretty dificult itself. if anyone knows of any, by all means, let me know. If I had to get one shipped i'm betting i'd rather just pay the extra cash for an tt clip, unless a na is cheap i'd go for it. Cheapest way, i figure, is a j30 motor. $550 they pull it themselves.
