I just landed in Surrey, BC after a 3k mile trip. Bro-in law runs a garage here. Jacked up the car in the air for an oil change..noticed the underbody coating melting. The obvious diagnosis is the catback area since it seems a lot of collective heat assembles here. Car seems to have power, however, collapsible cats are not visually detectible. Has anyone run into this issue with their J30 ? I know the J's exhaust is very restrictive with pre-cats, cats from dual headers terminating into a single muffler. I would like to do some upgrades in the future to breathe easier..looks like it might be sooner if this is indeed an issue with the cats..

There is indeed alot of heat there. My drivers side pipe rusted and broke off right after the cat.

A new exhaust will cost you around 500-1500 dollars depending on the quality of the work.
