I was driving at about 70mph and the car jerked and the rpms went up and i contiuned driving. When I stoped and accelerated it semed to be stuck in 3rd gear and it had no reverse only a growling sound. I replaced the transmission and the same thing happend after about 50 miles of driving. The trans I put in was used and I had to use the inhibitor switch from my old trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like a torque converter (TC) issue. Do you know if you had the TC replaced when you had your transmission replaced? I have seen people install used transmission and leave the original TC. All of the factory reman transmission come with a new TC included, which tells you something...

Thanks for the suggestion. I did use the torque converter that came with the transmission. I did pull it from a wrecked vehicle. Can you tell me what the shift inhibitor does? I used the one from my transmission because someone had taken the one I pulled off the wreck

The inhibitor switch will just not allow you to put the car in drive or reverse without holding the brake.

I would think most [or all] junkyard RE4R01A trannies are done by now after all the newest is 12 years old and average is 14.

With no rehabilitation, definitely true.

Why a Nissan remanufactured one from Joe is much cheaper as it has the logest life possible and the labor is only performed once if performed correctly.

We had one customer who insisted in supplying his own junkyard transmissions. He paid us [$550 x 3 + 2 flushes] to swap 3 different used trannies before HE found one that kinda worked.
