First off, the new forums look great..

I'd like to be prepared for the J30 when it hits 60k to overhaul the transmission fluid.. What is the best way to do this.. I read Q45tech/Dennis' post here http://nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=76109 I think that applies to Q45 only, or, I could be wrong..

What is the best way of accomplishing this ? Anybody use anything other than Nissanmatic transmission fluid ? I'm reading Mobil 1 +lubegard to get the viscocity to par.. I'm also reading Pan Drops + Filter and also new cooler.. I know nissan transmissions are ultra-sensitive having owned a 3rd gen maxima automatic which are notorious for Jatco Quality. I'm going to put a transmission cooler regardless of the method of drain/fill. Just wanted some experiences to relate to..

Thanks..Abdul

You have 2 choices: Find a shop with a machine, pay them the $ for the service, and take some Mobil1 with you. Q owners give them 4 qts extra to fill the machine and give a good probability that we'll get maybe 90% of the fluid exchanged. Also pay them to replace the filter too if they offer that.Your other option is to do it yourself...drain as much as will come out of the thing and refill. You might get 60% or more if you let it sit overnight. Do this a couple times, and you get over 80% flushed in the end. And of course you still have the filter to do.

I just used Quakerstate dexron/mercon3 and half a quart of Valvoline high mileage ATF. Did this on a Pan Drop. Try to use a lift b/c its a pain with all those bolts to unscrew. And don't forget the pan gasket and filter.

The beauty of the whole chemical clean and then flush is the specific detergents [BG Quick Clean for Transmission] gets the valve body and clutches clean of the varnish that the old ATF creates,

New ATF won't attack the varnish, you'll only be exchanging fluids [with pan drop and drain].
