J30 transmission question

I never used the car in the 3 position but heard alot of people talking on this site so I tried it.

I counted the shifts and it seemed like it shifted to fourth. Is this just the Torque lockup engaging? I am not sure if it should in the 3 position.

maybe the TC is confusing you. when it does fully engage watch the tach. it doesn't drop as far as a REAL shift. when it engages the rpm probably only drops around 300~500 rpm. Count the shifts at 3/4-full throttle. It's easier that way.

Lack of detail on my part

The rpms do not drop much but I can feel a "shift". Maybe 300 to 500 rpm

I would assume this is normal and can only be felt at certain conditions like using position 3 whent he rpms are higher
