J30 transmission drain and fill

Hi:I have a 94 j30. Today I drained the transmission fluid and refilled it. I added 3 qts of Mobil 1 and BG transmission conditioner. The question I have is when you drain the fluid and add new in (not pan drop), how many qts should I add. I added 3 qts and the dip stick shows more than the upper limit of the hot indicatorwhenyou check. I did use some information from this site.

Should I remove some of the fluid or keepinf it will not harm me.

i assume you know to check the fluid with the car off. the amount you add depends on how much you drained out in the first place. cant tell you how much because it seems you didnt do a pan drop or a complete fluid exchange. too much fluid and it will start to foam up= no good.
