We don't have one of these in the J forum. It seems it would be a good sticky.

Brands, sizes, load index, general comments on wet/dry traction, handling, sidewall flex (a problem I've found b/c of the Js weight), road noise, price, etc.

I have run the following:

Dunlop SP Sport A2, 215/60/15, load index - ? probably not high enough - relatively loud, tons of sidewall flex, tread wear was abysmal considering a 450+ treadwear rating, I got 8,000 miles before reaching the tread bars on a 20,000 mile tire.

Falken Ziex 512, 235/45/17, load index 97, a great tire, I'm sure the extra 20mm helped alot, but the handling was night and day, far more sticky and planted. Keeping the Js tail in line became a far easier task - in the wet as well. Little flex, but obviously a lower profile. Relatively quiet as well. And a good price at around $90/ea.

Falken Ziex 215/60/15, 94, a far different tire than the 17 inch Ziex, different construction, far less aggressive tread compound, slightly louder, not nearly as sticky, still not too much flex. Wet traction still leaves something to be desired. I'd give it a recommendation for a cheap tire - I thought I was getting the same tire I had in the 17 inch.

Yeah, I remembered it, however, I thought it'd be better to get some information catered to the J in here since the traffic here has picked up lately, and Infiniti General used to cater mostly to the Q crowd before the split.

If you want to sell the operas or whatever they are I could probably take em off your hands if the price is right.

They are 17x8 OZ Opera Is. I may part with them, I have some details to work out first. They look amazing on the J in my opinion, by the way. I will keep you in mind when and if the time comes.

I use the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position on my 1994 Infiniti J30.

The BEST tire I have ever used. Handles the ice better than studded tires. Did not use studs this year in Oregon because of this tire. And I only have two on the rear. Have put 10k on them, and they look great. Cannot break them loose in dry weather. Have to really, really try in wet weather.

I must add, it doesn't matter if your car is front or rear-wheel drive--THE TIRES WITH THE MOST TREAD SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON THE REAR WHEELS.
