Any recomendations for new tires for my '96 J30? Mostly highway driving.

Michelin is always best for pure highway in a quasi wet enviroment the MXV4 Plus/SE in H rated is good [decent]............run from directional tires as the inability to cross rotate is a serious detriment. The higher the treadwear index the worse the stopping distance wet or dry..............so you have to delineate how much worse than stock [200 tread index] you will accept usually each 100 increment is worth 5-8% longer stopping [to my knowlege results have never been published in this manner or attempts to correlate varies]. SAE papers are available to the industry but are never allowed to be published to consumers.

Tire Rack has started 50 to zero wet /dry but there is very little data yet to compare brands.
