Hey guys.. so i decided about 2 weeks ago that i got tired of using my keys to unlock the car door so i bought a remote off ebay that was used but in perfect condition. I got the remote and i followed the instructions and yay it worked. Now heres the problem. I came home and went in the house.. about 2 hours later i came out and went to unlock the car with the remote and it wouldnt work. So... I reprogrammed it again this morning. I went to pepboys.. came out and it worked... Came home, went back out to the car about 2 hours later and the remote will not work. Any reasons for this? I noticed that when im in the car now with the doors closed the security light was acting weird.. could it just be the relay or something? help is greatly appreciated

Weak battery/poor contacts in the remote?

Have you ever replaced the door lock timer? The later model years came with an improved/more reliable version.

Don't know where the remote receiver is located in the car.

i have not replaced the door lock timer yet. it seems as though the remote un-programs itself because it works fine but after say an hour or so it doesnt. I'll try changed the battery first. maybe it could be the door lock timers? but the trunk doesnt even pop with it either after a little while. Maybe the receiver is going bad?

replaced the battery.. worked but did the same thing again.. it seems like when the remote doesnt work the security light isnt on even though the car is locked up.. perhaps the theft control relay, unit? keyless entry unit?

I guess a good test would be to roll down your driver side window and lock the car from the outside. Then pup the trunk through the open window. The alarm should go off. If not I would assume the unit is bad.

well i just went outside and i rolled down the drivers window and i locked the door from the outside. I reached in and popped the trunk.. no alarm... I locked the door from the outside again and i reached in and unlocked the door (as if someone was breaking in) and to no avail no alarm. So perhaps the theft control unit OR the RELAY?
