anyone ever tried putting an RB into a J30?im starting to plan out my next project now, i was going to do an awd s14, but i think i like this idea better

im planning for custom motor mount brackets and driveshaft sofar, probably a custom transmission mount too (will probably end up making it manual)

and the frankenstein rb30vet deal

input? comments?

im seeing used j30s go for around $2000 .. and one that needs engine work but still running was <$1000 (for a 94 with the heated seats)even if i have to get somone else to fab the mounts and driveshaft, this could be under $6000 to get it up and running

then the dilemma on which direction to go from there... completly slam it, make it race ready, or just have a pimp-*** grocery getter ... damn.. for something slick like this i would have to have suicide rear doors

Thats crazy talk...

But if it were me I wouldnt want to go from the 200hp VG to a 215 hp 2.0L RB20. I'd probably go with a 25... but then again theres no way I'd keep it stock, so an rb20 would probably do nicely.

OMg suicide rear doors, that car would be sooo unique.

Good idea!!

yeah, just straight style

but reread what engine i said.. it wasnt an rb20

the frankenstein engine, RB30 block with the 25 VVT head ... i havnt gotten deep into the rb world yet, but ive heard that engine is relatively cheap to build and does somewhere around 400 whp out of the box ... hte only pain is going to be finding and shipping the parts from other countries to the US

ive been a closet-sedan guy ever since i saw a rediculously moded chaser.. it was the real deal. sounded mean as hell, it was definatly a track car, but it had plates too, not sure what province (prefecture?) it was registered in, my kanji kinda sucks .. and it was bright ******* orange

Better off with a non vtc head (r32 DE) to save cash. But I can't see it being less that 6k, I'd be looking closer to $8-10k realistically. But no one has done an RB30 or J30-RB on this forum. So all info is just pure speculation.

I'd say 10k.

Good luck. I'd never put an RB in a POS luxury car. (IMO)...
