Hello all,

Planning to buy a J30 very soon, I really liked the shape. Need some info on all years. Which year is most trouble free? What are common problems and their solutions?

Let me know if anyone is selling a good car for a good price.

Thanks

i wouldn't say common problems are year specific(besides a couple minor electrical gremlins), but some better options like 6 speaker bose system is. do some searches do gather more info, there's plenty. here's some good ones:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....t=j30http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....t=j30http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....t=j30

there's more but i'll let ya get em yourself.

The J30 is a pretty reliable machine. In fact, one of the guys who used to handle parts for us at a dealership thought that the J was one of the most reliable models Nissan developed. I would say for collectability purposes that a 93 or 94 touring version with the HICAS system would the most interesting. 95 and up versions of the standard and touring models have more creature comforts and a few more gremlins worked out. The touring version has a tighter stock suspension. The spoiler on the J30t is functional so bear that in mind if you want to be doing high speed driving. The newest version you can find would be the best bet. Less chance of long term abuse and components would be slightly newer. It's a great car but hard to mechanically modify which is fine by me as I am trying to keep my Jt bone stock. However, if there was a way to spupercharge or add a turbo or two without breaking the bank... What am I talking about!?!? I'm just plain lucky that I'm not in jail! If I owned a Q45, you'd most likely be seeing me picking up litter on the side of the Interstate by now.:rolleyes (see Infiniti Speeding Stories)

oh, theres plenty of ways. just depends on the size of your bank and how bad you want to break it.

Just remember the car is heavier than it looks and that will be the #1 limitation for turning it into a racing machine.

true, but several hundered pounds can easily be lost if you are serious about racing.

if you soup up a J30, it will best be modeled after an M5, not silly fast, but a great driver's car. one you can still have tons of fun with yet still retain basic practicality.

Not impossible but difficult. It has never been done to my knowledge. The J's exhaust system is already pretty good stock.
