Hello!

My 1994 J30 has 122K on it and after replacing water pump, front seal, all belts and hoses, the next step is suspension.

Is it enough to replace strut inserts in the front and shocks in the rear, while keeping the original springs?

Thanks!

Enough for what? Examine all the rubber bushings for wear and deformation.......how are the tension rods and sway bar bushings and rear end links?

Your springs should be fine unless there is heavy corrosion. All the rubber bits are probably done for after 10 years of exposure to the elements.

I'm getting ready to replace my right rear strut. Can anyone outline the basic procedure for me (in a little more detail than "Take off old strut, put on new strut"!). Are there any special tools required or recommended?

Thanks,Bob

Hello!

Thank you all for the comments. I will definitely have the springs, bushings and links inspected and replaced accordingly.
