J30 sunroof problem

My "new" 93 J30 sunroof would only come up 2 inches on the drivers side andone inch on the passenger side. I took it through a car wash (sun roof closed)and got a lot of water inside. The "factory manual disk" bought on ebay had no real details to help on repair. I removed the headliner and there is no glass in the sunroof and the mechanism was definitely buggered up. Was there a glass window in there? I removed the whole assembly. It took another hour to destroy the slide assemblies to get the door panel out. I am looking at reinstalling the door permanetly with some homemade brackets and bondo or such and reinstall the frame to hold the headliner. There is a half inch of gasket missing from the door seal - anybody got a part number for that seal. Next project- the AC clutch does not work.

Go to the J30 DIY section on fuzzycats.com, there is a detailled DIY document on sunroof repair. It is a labor intensive job. It will take you an entire weekend to do.

To replace just the gasket... I just used the method described in the link, it took about 1 hour total and I did not have to take out any of the interior nor headliner.

You need the sunroof repair kit like in the fuzzycats link.
