I checked the price of J30 struts and was shocked. I understand that the J30 is 300ZX derived. The 300ZX struts cost less than half that of J30's. Will they fit? If so are they stiffer?

Go to the infinitipartsusa site and look at the J30 suspension.

I believe there are complete assemblies and cartridge inserts.

Call Joe Tesensky and he will explain it all to you.

no they will not fit. The motor and transmission are borrowed from the Z but that's about it. Yes the struts are VERY expensive. But if you can install them yourself you'll save at least 50% of total cost. At least around my part of town no one wanted to do it...or knew how. I've never done anything like that before, but it turned out to be fairly easy. Just need the right tools.

im paying 1250.00 for custom koni struts for the rear of my j30.they will compliment the yellows up front and be double adjustable at the top without even jacking car up.they are making them for me.yea its expensive.but on curvy roads the car speaks for itself.and my wheight distribution is almost perfect.49 to 51,accually a little better.:icesangel

Even gold and diamond springs and shocks alone won't improve a vehicle's handling by 5% [max G or time in slalom or lap time].VS. brand new oem components.

thats a given.the beszt thing to do in my opinion is sway bars.on these crappy handling cars.they are scary like 87 firebird in the rain.

true, but when your riding in a slammed J with stock struts your probably bouncing all over the place and if not your soon to be after they blow out on ya. odly diamond, that price isn't too bad considering what OEM costs and the fact you're getting something custom made to fit your application. roll on.

Good to see you here diamond. I believe your J is the standard version (if one can call yours standard). The touring type has sway bars and stiffer springs. It handles great. Are you suggesting that the J30 can break loose in the rain because of its suspension?

The touring models had the same spring rate as the others and the rear sway bar was actually thinner by 2mm on the T model. Other than that the 'T' got a spoiler and the HICAS system. I'm pretty sure the front sway bar stayed the same..around 21mm.

now i'll throw in the "I think so" disclaimer.

From Autopedia: "Standard Equipment Includes: (Additions to Base Model in Bold) 4sp Automatic Transmission w/Overdrive; Auto A/C; Alarm; AM Stereo/FM ETR Stereo Radio w/Cass & CD Player (6 Bose Speakers); Pwr F&R Anti Lock Disc Brakes; 8 Way Pwr Leather Reclining Bucket Seats; Carpeting; Console; Cruise; Pwr Heated Mirrors; Auto Day/Night Rearview Mirror; Dual Air Bag; Pwr Tilt & Sliding Sun Roof; Pwr Locks; Pwr Windows; Rear Defroster; Tinted Glass; Pwr Steering; Leather Wrapped Tilt Wheel w/Touch Controls; Tach & Temp Gauges; Clock; Dual Trip Odometers; Revised F&R Stabilizer Bars; Recalibrated Springs; F MacPherson Struts; High Performanc 15" Cast Alum Alloy Wheels w/P215/60HR15 BSW Tires; Illum Visor Mirrors; Variable Intermit Wipers; Carpeted F&R Mats; Pwr Ant; Bodyside Moldings; Rear Spoiler; Remote Keyless Entry System; Limited Slip Axle; Pwr RC Fuel Door & Trunk Releases; J30t Badging; F&R Dome & Map w/Fade Out Lights; Cellular Telephone Wiring Prep."

Note the item "Revised F&R Stabilizer Bars; Recalibrated Springs". This was written in the bold type to designate the touring model option. Perhaps on the 93&94 T types the suspension was softened for the HICAS steering system. The 95 and later J30t is definitely a sporty handling car. The springs are stiffer and it has sway bars unlike the standard J30.

diamond, I know that you don't have a 95 or later J30t. How could your pre 95 J30 come with 95 and later touring model features? Did Nissan attempt to sell a pig in a poke when it said the J30t's suspension was sport tuned and actually provided a stock suspension?

I stand corrected. I thought yours was a 94 for some reason. But it is a standard version, right? No spoiler or did you remove it?
