ok i'm new here so bare with me...i want to put a stereo of mine its a dual *yea i kno* it wouldn't work till i hooked the antenne and it worked, so we wired the speakers and then it jus stopped...*can i connect my stereo here or wat i think i read something about it having a code or somethin

so we tried to find out what we did n couldn't find out why...then my friend touched the battery 12v with the antenna and blew a fuse... which we had to find and turned out to be the radio fuse, clock fuse, and i don't know which fuse controls the dashboards light...so if u can help me figure tht out cuz i connected the yellow wire to my 12v wire*red* and it turns my dashboard light on but i have to work with my dimmer now

so anything that can repair what me and my friend have done to my car please explain...*n i don wanna take it to someplace cuz...i jus don wanna lol

Step #1: read your manual and locate your fuses..there's a handy dandy diagram that shows what fuse goes to what

or...

step #1: open your trunkstep #2: locate the left sidestep #3: locate the panel on the side that contains your service manualstep #4: take the svc manual out and start reading

sorry if I sound like a d!ck this morning but it's a sore subject to me today...wife took my sub/amp out yesterday to put a stroller in the trunk and didnt disconnect my power wire fuse under the hood first. *arc* *zap* *burnt wires and fuses*

I wasnt really mad at her, she just sees me disconnect the amp and missed me taking the front fuse out. I was more concerned about arcing wires and gas tank.

And as soon as I can get a 2nd car...there will be no more touchy of the J..lol

Next time have the wiring diagram before you go splicing wires. The Yellow wire you connected to the 12+ on the sterro is the illumination Wire, thats why your dash lights cut on. Refer to diagram below for the wiring for current and all future stereo installs.

Most nissan vehicles get their radio ground through the antenna. The reason your radio didn't work until you hooked up the antenna is because there is no ground for the radio. If you used a wire harness, look at the pin the ground is in and you will see there's no wire coming out the other side of the plug. You have to wire your own ground for an aftermarket radio in these cars for them to work like they should.

Any metal surface behind the radio will do. I use 1/4" pan head self tapping screws and they work great. Just make sure you aren't going to damage anything with the screw wherever you choose to screw it in. I personally used one of the supports for the dash frame, it looks like a big tube. Nice thick, well grounded piece of metal.
