j30 stereo help + newbie

First of all, since this is my first post I'd like to say Hi and thank god that you guys exist.

The radio in my 93 j30 had been dead for about 4 years. Recently I had it fixed, worked fine and then my CD player died. I came across a 95 j30 CD changer stereo tried installing it but found out that the plugs in the back are diff. There is also a black cable coming out of my current radio that I have no idea how to detach.

I am a complete newbie when it comes all kinds of car work but I can follow directions very well so I'm not a lost cause! help me learn!

hey i think i can help if i remember right the 93 and 94 radios are different then the 95 to 97 in fact im pretty sure they are as for the black cable i think your talking about the antenna you should be able to just squeeze the tap and pull. might fight a little

If your looking for one to buy i have mine 94 J30t and it has the Tape/DNR option just pulled it and works great

I was wondering if there was any sort of adapter I could use that would make it work?

For a 95-97 stereo to work in a 93-94 car? I don't think so.There is always an option to put a new CD deck , and all 4 speakers in to make it sound better than ever.

i would have to agree as the BOSE system is a great system and ahead of its time. but you have to remember that its time was 93-97 i put my new system in which on ebay dosent cost much if your not worried about warranty and i would have to say sounds a lot better. if you go that route the only thing i would of changed on mine was putting components in the rear as well.
