Hey guys, both of my rear bose speakers are blown out (loud buzzing noise) So i deicided that it's time for me to replace everything. I'm curious though, if im going to put a new aftermarket head unit and speakers do i need that adapter? i will be keeping nothing from the original system as I'm installing new speakers in the front and back.

Also, i know the door panel only fits 4 inch speakers? or is it 4.5 inch? besides that is there some way i can fit bigger speakers in there? i remember reading something on this site that someone adjusted it to fit in 6.5 i think but i cant find it. But with all of your experiences does the 4 inch really do the job? I'm thinking of going all pioneer, i found some nice 5 way 6x9 speakers but how does kenwood compare to them? thanks for the help guys!

No adapter needed if your replacing speakers as well as the head.

Not sure about the other questions but someone will chime in.

depends on the type of music u listen to and personal preference...5 ways arenr necissarily better than 3 ways....personally id find a speaker with good mids bc u alreadyh have tweeters up front for highs

dude take it from me i did the same thing i replaced the head unit, it was expensive, 150 alone for the install alone because of some stuped a** bose adapter. now for the rear speakers, you dont need an adapter but you will need to know a few things. first off when you unpug the rear speakers you will notice they are a little bit bigger than your aftermarket. now there are 4 screws on the botttom of the speakers unscrew them and you will see they are amps on the bottom. you will not be able to screw them into the aftermarket speakers. so i wrigged mine up to the aftermarket speakers with some zip ties and put it all back in. dude and the system sounds great but the whole back shelf rattles when the bass hits. but it will have the bose factory amps on it so it will definately crank. let me know if this helps.

I re-did my entire audio system 3 years ago.

I just wired the new head unit with the old wiring, which allows you to run the rear speakers off the stock amp. as for the fronts, I have the 4.25 pioneer speakers and they work very well. i have infinity 6x9 in the back wired directly to the stock amp. it is pretty straight forward it just takes a few hours to get it all set up.

Sorry if I am being to vague, if you have any specific questions I will try to help you out.

so i got drunk the other night and was about to go to sleep until i read about rigging up the factory amps to some aftermarket speakers...so my drunk a** at like 3AM decided to try this...now i dont reccomend doing this with alcohol involved especially at night since u cant really make out the colors but hey it was interesting...long story short it sounds great with one problem...if youre going to do this either get some bass blockers for the rear speakers or get some 6 x 9s that will handle ALOT of bass....my JBLs cant really take it and on top of that my 10s in the trunk are moving alot of air and the only place for it to escape is through the rear speaker ports...anyways i digress...works pretty godd now just to tune it a little more...
