"j30" and "aftermarket" dont go together in the same sentence.

its pretty much all custom.

i remember some posts that mention koni front cartridges and i think bilstein rears. not to sure.

diamondj30 would be of more help.

"not blow out stock shocks and not sway as much." ?????????

Springs don't have very much to do with sway as the common 1" lowering ones are at best 13-20% stiffer. Sway bars can be equal to springs especially on front...........so the net increase is only 6.5-10% less sway at most.......plus the 1-1.5% from lower C of G.

I know spings dont help much with sway thats what sway bars are for. i just was askin if anyone knew wher to pick up some bigger ones. That and i was lookin more into the lowering springs that drop 1.75(wich i have found)and dont think stock shocks will put up with that and not blow out.

That and any problem areas in the J i sould look at closely when buying??

thats why im not lowering my j. no aftermarket shocks, and the front cartridge type are not a thing that i would like to pencil in for regular replacement.

just get a touring model. my shocks are toast [108k miles, original] and it still handles pretty well. its not a car that i feel should be lowered. its good from the factory.

ok, here goes. make sure the headlights come on, and dont flicker [headlamp relay]

the door panels will be worn to an extent, and the leather on the seats hardens over time and cracks in certain areas.

the dimmer switch has a cold solder connection, and if it like mine, the dash and radio are black at night.

make sure the car was never in an accident. the j hold up very well in accidents, but if the windshield was broken and replaced, there is a very good chance it will leak water on to the ecu and cause weird idle and running problems in heavy rain.

my car needs alot of work, but thats why i got it...

tahts what i have to work on with mine.

my car needs a new hood, a new steering wheel, the dimmer switch needs to be fixed, the windshield needs to be removed and resealed, and im probably going to replace the carpet.

but the paint is very good, the seats are good, the radio is good as is most of the interior except the carpet witch is somewhat stained, but im probably going to replace it, and it needs a manual transmission and a straight 6 motor...

The non touring J has stiffer sway bars. Salvage yard. Touring J has stiffer springs but thinner sway bars.

Look at condition of the transmission fluid and expect a firm shift from 1st to 2nd gear when cold. This is normal. Too soft and there maybe problems. Try shutting the passenger door a few times to see if it triggers the locking mechanism (door lock timer). Take a few CDs and see if they all play properly. Check the sun roof operation. Very labour intensive fix. Head light glass condition. Check for oil varnish through the fill hole. If it's a 94 or 94, timing belt should be changed at 60K. 95 and up at 105k. Hoses changed at 100k. That's all I can think of right now.
