I need to replace my rotors and I was wondering what you guys used when replacing yours. OEM from Joe are about 80 a piece so I was looking for something cheaper and possibly better. Is drilled slotted worth it(since you cant machine them afterwards). What have you guys had good results with?

Personally I wouldnt get the drilled/slotted for just the reason you listed.....

OEM is about the best to go, the stuff on ebay isnt as good and wont last you as long...

"Cheaper" is relative to how soon they degrade and you have to replace them again.

Ask Joe for the Stillen Brembos.

Stillen Sport Rotors look like Brembos but aren't Brembos. But there good especially if you buy ceramic brake pads.

Brembo does not make brake rotors for the J30 unfortunatly.

The front rotors are the same as the Q45. 450zxtt has a couple for sale for $25. Look in the Infiniti Classified section.

Brembo's all the way. Only rotor I have ever used for all my cars when available. Bewarned that they usually don't like to be resurfaced due to the chemical coatings on them. I cut a pair on my maxima and it warped and squeaked to no end. I also use ACT Pro ceramic pads. However, if you like the granny grip of OEM brakes, ACT is not for you. If you hate brake fade, ACT is for you. It works great on my J30 and grabs harder with more intense braking. No regrets for lack of OEM here..

Edit: I read driver's post above for lack of Brembo's on J30. I see the rears listed on europeanautomotive.com. However, I recall buying front/rear pairs from them a year ago. Strange.

Brembo does not make brake rotors for the J30 unfortunately.
Work great with my OEM pads.

I was over at the "official" brembo brakes site looking in the fitament catalog maybe 2-3 weeks ago. I was actually there looking for the Acura but I looked for the J. Found nothing.

Umm guys I was looking for something inexpensive. The stillen and brembos are in the 300 dollar range. I was looking for something like 50 a piece(if thats possible)

Are all rotors the same? At napa they have 'regular' rotors for 35 a piece and ones that have superior noise reduction for 80 a piece. OEM are also 80 dollars.

No they are not! Hence my comment above. If you buy Chinese, you will regret it when you replace them 10K-15K miles later.

Why would you want to cheese out on the only thing (besides tires) that control the car's deceleration?

I dont want to cheese out, but the J is not exactly a race car which will need to slow from 140 to 0 very often. So Brembos need not apply here. I just want some good stopping power and quiet operation.

It's your life. Might want to read Q45tech's posts sometime.

What are your suggestions then? I do not want cross drilled/slotted.

OEM, or Powerstop may make non-slotted. Irotors is a gamble.

Have you called Joe? If I remember correctly, the Stillen Brembo are heavier and less expensive than OEM, but they are drilled. I have a set on the front of one of my G50 (same as J30) with stock pads, and it has been superios for about 5K miles. Not definitive, but others have used them longer and may have better comments.

Remember, the mass of a J30 will stress brakes pretty well, more so than the lighter Z32.

Check your hub runout before mounting any new rotor. Indexing the rotor to the hub is best for long life. Use a DOT4 to flush your brakelines. For regular street use, nothing beats OEM pads.

Putting cheap rotors on the J will cause you to spend more $$$ in the long run since they will warp quicker and need replacement.

I have to replace the rotors because they have cracks in them. I originally wanted to slotted drilled but how long do they last?

i use porterfield rotors treated and pads and lines.no complaints.r4-s pads will set ya back tho.modulation excellent.doesnt warp out fast like oem.as a matter of fact braking isnt nothing like oem thank god.ive used them on car since 98..oh man i im getting some for my 200sx too.yesterday i drove down boeing hill in seattle and the brand new oem faded, havnt felt fading in years..totally unexceptable.felt like a drum brakes from the 50's,lol.man,you would think a light little car could stop better.
