J30 Reverse Problem

'95 J30, 110K miles. My college-bound bought the car used a year ago. Problem is it "sometimes" doesn't go into reverse, especially when car is warmed up. Almost always goes into reverse when cold. All forward gears work fine. When it's in reverse it goes fine, no slippage.

History: Bought summer of 02 with 105K miles. Changed transmission fluid and filter myself using Valvoline MaxLife. Old fluid was fairly gray (compared to other cars I have had) but not burnt. Problem started this spring. I recently changed the fluid again (knowing that torque converter holds a good bit of fluid), but without dropping the pan.

Craig, I'm afraid that the transmission is on it's way out. The reverse problem is just one of the several sypmtoms to come. Get the checkbook ready for a hit. Good luck.
