What you really need for an aftermarket system is new speakers, and Pioneer makes some excellent ones for the price.

You can use an aftermarket amplifier and some other wiring doodads (hey PMQ, make yourself useful here) to match the impedance and power, but plugging Bose speakers directly into an aftermarket system is not recommended.

It's terrible for the HU as well. If you plug the amped outs from the HU directly to the speakers it will sound awful and you will damage your HU as the bose speakers have a ~1.8ohm impedance and factory HUs almost always have a 4ohm minimum ohm load per channel. you could connect the bose amps to the preouts from the HU, but it would likely sound weak. the only good way to do this that i've experienced is with the PAC adapter.

edit: oh yea forgot to mention that HU would look HOT in a Q

well i want to keep the dash stock as possible. the Pioneer was the only one i found that was uni-color and blue lights. every other double din unit is colorful especially the kenwood.

the dealership said they can do a swap for the same for $278 CAD plus taxes and it will come with a warranty.but if i can get a brand new one with nicer features and if it would work with the pioneer i would definately opt for the new one.

although i want the bose but i can't justify paying $278 for a reconditioned one.

any suggestions?

Excellent choice for a headunit, and yes, it can be done. I have done it with a Pioneer GPS unit (AVH-6500/Avic80) I have written instructions as to carrying it out. Email me: [email protected] I will be more than glad to share the info..

Replace the speakers, leave the OEM HU alone. Use the Bose amps.
