would it be beneficial to increase the diameter of the intake tubing(the pipe running from the MAF to the throttle bodies)and slap a JWT pop charger on in place of the airbox as opposed to just running a K&N filter in the airbox...guy told me he would FAB and install for $300...yall let me know what you think...oh and as far as the fabbed suspension goes they have yet to get back with me on price etc. but i will post as soon as i know anything

I've heard mixed reviews on changing that pipe. The factory pipe is an equal length pipe. Changing that would throw off one side of the engine I would think. Dont know if that would make a power difference or create a lean/rich mix on one bank.

I removed my box and modified an adapter and cone to fit. As soon as my wife gets back home, I'll get a pic.

I spent about $10 at Auto Zone for an adapter and made it fit the MAF, slapped on a $25 cone. (which is getting replaced soon too for a genuine K&N cone, should have dropped the $50 to begin with instead of trying to be cheap there) Dont know if it made any HP difference, but when my exhaust didn't have holes before the cats and is now louder than anything...you could hear an audible growling difference of it sucking air, along with a "woosh" when you tapped the pedal quickly.

the pipe is going to be the same length...basically looking exactly like the stock...only difference is larger diameter

The filter casing rusted, that's why I wish I would have spent the extra to get the K&N the first time.

Ive been thinking of making a dual intake setup my getting some universal tubes on both sides and slapping on 2 cone's. The battery would have to be relocated but should be possible. only thing is i dont know what to do about the MAF?

you would either have to put to MAFs on there or configure some sort of x-pipe thing or whatever...its possible though i know theres a guy on here who did it...try asking him...his name was drape or something like that

There's a dual intake setup for the 300ZX TT, but is the J going to benefit from that much air coming in?

JWT has pics of their dual setup for the 300ZX TT

and it looks like according to JWT and Stillen...unless you have a large turbo and ECU upgrades...not a good thing to do to the J

yeah im not gonig to go with a dual intake setup myself because im not in the financial position to do the twin turbo motor/transmission swap(YET)thats why im just going to increase the diameter of the actual intake itself and throw a pop charger on the other end...not only would it be more free flowing before the MAF but after the MAF it would be high flowing allowing more air...ive noticed that even if you replace the airbox with a cone filter its still the same amount of air going into the throttle bodies...in theory if you allow more air to enter the throttle bodies the motor will breathe better in turn drive a little better...of course im not expecting a major HP gain but it would help....that coupled with an electric fan, under drive pulley, and headers i think would be great...plus ive been talking with someone who will do the ECU for me and also fab my suspension...that way whenever i do do the motor/transmission swap i will have already fabbed headers for it and can take the under drive pulley and electric fan and apply it to that motor...of course i wouldnt be able to use the intake again but hey i think itll be worth it...in order to do that swap i still have to have a driveshaft fabbed as well as get the parts for the motor/transmission/ecu/etc.
