According to the Sylvania website, the parking light bulb is a 168. Can anyone confirm? Somehow, the owner's manual had a blank space where it lists the bulb type of the parking lights. I'm thinking about changing to SilverStar bulbs for my headlights and would like the parking lights to match since they're right next to them. Does anyone know any bright bulbs that would go into the parking lights and would match the SilverStars in intensity while keeping similar wattage? So far, the only ones that I've seen are the PIAA Platinum Super White 168. Has anyone had any experience with these or similar? Thanks in advance.

Beware of excessive current demands. Silverstars are OK, otherwise use stock.

Parking (running) lights are not meant to illuminate the road nor blind anyone.

I think the 168 and 158 bulbs are the same as 194 bulbs. On ebay they have sume white LEDs that take little power and I believe those should work. I have mine out because I have the silverstars and didn't like the look of the yellow parking lights with the silverstars in. I think I will leave mine out because I may be getting the angel eyes.

daniel is right, 194 and 168 are the same size, either normally a different output or color.

the 194 socket LEDs are, in my opinion as well, the superior solution.

So, I suppose that anything that is designed for 194 should work in the parking lights (so all 194s work in place of all 168s). I just stopped by Autozone and saw a set of Jam Strait 194 LEDs. These should work and probably be brighter (or at least whiter), right?

Maxnix, I know the parking lights are not to illuminate the road but like j30t, I wouldn't like there to be that yellow light alongside SilverStars. I would like the front to have a unified, bright white look.

Thanks for putting excess illumination on. Nothing like having your night vision reduced by pointless brightness by guys who want to look fashionable.

Crap! I'm turning into a curmudgeon but I get tired of dudes blinding themselves and others running their fog lamps etc. for no reason other than to do the doggy equivalent of pissing on a fire hydrant or spreading like a pea**** hoping to be noticed.

i wouldnt worry about what these guys are doing, mike.

those LEDs that fit in place of the 194 and turn signals are far less bright that their incandescent equivalent.

even better that the light is concentrated in a 30 degree cone directly forward i would say.

but i would have to agree with you on the fog lights, especially incorrectly aimed as most aftermarket ones are.

i have some installed, but i check their aim at every oil change, and i only use them on unlit rural roads along with my brights. (which means they go off for approaching traffic).

i would have to say they really help at night and dusk at noticing deer in time.

Sorry Mike. Bright was the wrong word. I just want to have parking lights that have a similar color to the SilverStars, not a yellowish white but something closer to the color(temp) of white that the SilverStars will produce. Anyway, the parking lights themselves won't blind people.

I'm personally gonna use the SilverStars to help with my visibility at night, not to blind people. Sometimes I just can't see too well with the stock lows and I don't want to use highs whenever there's a car in sight going in either direction. Most people here seem to like the SilverStars and they seem to help with visibility.

Oh I have Silver Stars, and I endorse them, especially when properly aimed.

Replacing amber running lights with white ones is illegal in some states, and certainly reduces your vehicle's visibility to other drivers who are conditioned to the amber lamps indicating the width of the oncoming vehicle.

It's difficult to resist fads. Fads and their followers are the foundation of a consumer society. I know I bought-in to some dumb ones when I was younger. Less buy-in now.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

Actually, the parking lights are already white. I had just taken a look at the parking light bulbs themselves and are clear white bulbs. The lights just produce the yellowish light when using the stock bulbs. Look at j30t's car at CarDomain and take notice of the headlights. The ends are the parking lights (just think the line that separates the hood and the fender continues down and separates the headlight fixtures and the parking light fixtures). This should give you and idea of how it looks and why I would want the parking lights to match. When everything is stock, everything has that yellowish white light and looks unified. I just want to keep a unified look when I finally change to SilverStars. Plus, there are already amber side markers at the front in addition to the parking lights.
