I have a 95 J30 with 267,000 miles. On a recent trip I noticed smoke from the engine and discovered the oil dip stick was pushed up about two inches and oil sprayed around that area. Looks like pressure is building up and it is enough to push up the dip stick and spray out. It has happened a few more times now. A friend told me it was probably the PCV valve. I understand there are two of those on the J30. Am I going after the right thing?

And [cleaning] the balance tube between plenums and the EGR, probably a good bit of blow by [piston rings].

The calibration [diameter/spring] of PCV is designed for a non worn engine.

Lotta miles in 8-9 years, guess you [whomever] didn't change the oil 7-8 times per year [4 times would have been every 8,000 miles].

you can try it, but if that doesnt work, do a compression test, so we can confirm what q45tech suggested is the real source...
