j30 lsd: how can I remove the drive axles to replace seals?

Hello,

I cannot find info on removal of drive axles to replaces seals on j30 lsd anywhere in the FSM. I also searched. Can anyone help me with this?

You have to pull the input shaft out of the side of the differential. They are held in by C-clips which you should be able to pull out with some tugging.

You will have to remove the 5/6 bolts holding the drive axles to the out-put flanges on the differential. Once this is done, you can pry the axles off the differential and swing them out of the way. Then, with a rubber mallot or some other make-shift tool, tap the out-put flanges out-wards away from the differential. The pressed on c-clips on the end of the out-put flange will release and the flange will slide out of the differential. Before doing anything, please note on how far in the old seals are sitting inside the differential housing. It is important to install the new seals in the exact same depth, as installing them further in or not far enough will cause a leak.
