check the most vital relays and fuses that control most of your main components for the engine before you go and take out the ecu. most of the relays that i am refering to are located in the engine bay next to the battery. for the relays, check with an ohmmeter. Start with the coil side of the relay and if you get a reading, then thats good, if not then there is an open circuit in the coil of the relay. Now for the switch side of the relay, if you don't get a reading, then its good but if it does, then the switch is stuck closed which can causea serious problem.
