My wife tried to borrow my 93 J30 - instead of using the remote to unlock the driver's door, she used the key. After inserting the key, she turned it counter clockwise, realized her error, then turned it clockwise to unlock the door. After then inserting the key in the ignition switch, she attempted to start the car - and nothing. No lights, no electrical activity at all. The headlights and interior will not come on, the door lock switch also inop. I tested the battery and it is fine. The car just seems electrically dead.

Any ideas? Help, please.

She might have activated the anti-theft, but I was under the impression that the anti-theft involved horns and lights...

Do you know how to reset the anti-theft?

thanks for the response....

Turning the key to the left activates the alarm system. I just tried the same proceedure as your wife. I manually activated the anti theft system then turned the key to the right and no problem with the electrics. Did you try to deactivate the system with the remote?

The anti-theft does not effect all the electrical systems, sounds like you may have a failure of the main fuse. Check in the fuse box in the engine compartment for any blown fuses, the largest fuse feeds most circuits first. Usually the alternator fails or the cables are reversed when jump starting the car to blow this fuse.
