Hi:

I have being hearing weird noise from the passernger side of intake cam. Yesterday, I finally took out everything and opened up the front timing covers. I found that the passenger side of the intake sprocket is leaking oil! It leaks from the seam between the BLACK sprocket body and the SILVER backing plate. I guess this causes a lost in oil presure in the VTC mechanism and the werid noise is a result of that.

So, my question is, how do I fix the oil leak? I definitely DO NOT want to get a new intake sprocket as it will cost me about $400.

Do you have the FSM (factory service manual)? If not I think (not sure) that the newer J should be similar enough - and you should be able to get that FSM at http://www.phatg20.net

All of that said, I doubt it's repairable without replacing the VTC assembly.

Anyone ever experienced oil leak from the intake VCT sprocket? Q45tech, do you have any experience repairing the sprockets?
