Does anyone know how to remove the clear plastic that protects the instrument cluster in the dash on a '96 J30 for cleaning the reverse side?

take the dash piece around the bottom base of the steering wheel. then take off the flat black instrument gauge surround. unscrew the 4 screws holding the cluster in. unplug all the electrical connections. the clear part should be an easy snap-off job now.

Be careful on releasing the clips on the lens - the plastic is fairly brittle and will crack. I just had to order a new lens.

if you are worried about the lens, take the black bezel and lens assembly off together, and clean the rear side of the glass through the bezel holes.
