I havent wired in a ignitor, yet. But looking at your first pic. On the side where you have 6 pins(why is there a ground?) isnt there supposed to be 6pins all going to each coil.

Try searching up posts for ignitors like z32 and like. But I think your wiring is wrong.

And ignitor heating up when Engine Keyed On sounds like incorrect wiring.

IIRC Carl H had same problem with his ignitor in his write-up. Maybe he could shed some light or someone else could?

And if that ground wire is the only ground wire you have between block and chassis. Than its a problem waiting to happen. Dont you have a thick wire from Battery to starter/alt/block?

Because that 14-16AWG wire will fry like a firecracker on 4th of July

alright guys thanks to the help of carl h ive got the ignitor problem solved and now it has spark.

what it was, was that the lead coming off of the cyl 1 happens to be black. so when i looked at the pics in the thread on how to install j30 ignitor. i saw 2 black wires and asumed they were both grounds. ends up that one of the black wires coming off of cyl 1 is a lead the other is a ground. i had mine backwards very simple fix. now all thats left is to start it.

ground is on the efi harness but is moved to the coil harness plug once all has been repinned...it is explained in the writeup i did for the retrofit ages ago.
