Just curious.
Does anybody know what its made off ??
I have a high Intensity LED light that has a magnetic base, and it would stick to the underside or topside of the Hood ?

Thought that was a bit Strange !!

I'm pretty sure the exterior is steel, the underside might be a composite. Luxury automakers in the 90's where crazy about composite, kind of like how they're all into carbon fiber now.

Trust me Driver.
The top and bottom of my hood are not magnetic.
Try it on yours please. I'm WAY curious about this now.
Anybody that has a magnet of any kind (A fridge magnet will work) please try it.
Fender is. Hood isn't.
On mine anyway. :O)

I believe it is aluminum.

I was thinking the same thing.
When the Hail storm came through I have MUCH larger dents on my hood than my roof or trunk.

If not aluminum, then it's some other non-magnetic silver metal. I saw one or two in junkyards which had been crumpled up front, and where the paint had chipped away you could see a silver metal that would not rust. Magnesium is the only other metal I know of like this, but I find it hard to believe they'd use it so close to the engine.

I thought about polishing up the hood to shine like the cars that are painted to resemble aluminum, but ended up selling before I got a chance. If someone tries this, PLEASE post photos :)

Agreed. I saw a Magnesium wheel on fire once at a dirt track. And some poor guy just trying to help threw a bucket of water on it !!
Not a good thing to do. He looked a bit strange when his beard and eyebrows were pretty much gone. :gapteeth:
