1996 J30 heater blows "COLD". After the engine temp is normal, it takes numerous ON-OFF cycling to get the heater to blow "heat".

Is the problem the "Coolant Temperature Sensor"? If so, where is the blooming thang located?

If it is something else, please tell me where it is located.

Thanx in advance.

What is the coolant temperature when the heater is blowing cold?

What is the coolant temperature after it blows hot air?

When was the last time the coolant was replaced along with the thermostat?

Thanks Paul for the quick response.

In the middle of the TEMP gauge between C &H.

Maybe a good flush of the system and a new Thermostat as a starter. It takes 10-15 minutes of driving to get the TEMP off "C". The TEMP rise should happen fairly fast certainly not 10-15 minutes.

OBTW, is the Thermostat hidden or easy to find? So much of this engine compartment is "Find Me If You Can".

My '33 Ford engine compartment is much easier to navigate.

OK see pages HA-41--HA-49 in the J30 FSM AKA Factory Service Manual: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/J30/1994_J30/ha.pdf

Then be sure to read the rest of the service manual: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/J30/

Sounds like your HVAC controls arent telling the heater door to open. I have two for sale if you want to try that.
