Try pulling out and replacing the switch, got some coffee into mine a ways back. Pulled the switch and replaced it with a new one, the seat started working again.

I didn't think I spilled anything either, till I pulled the switch and saw the residue. It was awhile ago, I think I paid $70 (Canadian) it should be cheaper in U.S. dollars. I cleaned off the contacts and any remaining residue with a towellete designd for cleaning elctrical components ($3 Canadian), most electronic stores (i.e Circuit City, Radio Shack, etc) and some office stores (i.e. Staples) stock this item.

If you have any electronic surplus store (or somewhere electricians go to get their supplies) in your area, you will probably be able to find a similiar switch at a fraction of the price. Just bring the old switch with you. The infiniti heated seat switch is a generic model. I found one almost exactly like it (no graphic) for $10 (Canadian) after the fact at an electronics supply store.

madmax, i believe the heated seats started on the 1994 models of the j30. the first model year (1993), i believe, didn't come with heated seats

Canadian spec models have had heated seats standard since 1993.

That's weird. It even says in my 1993 Canadian Infiniti sales brochure in (both offical languages) that it is a standard feature part of the standard "cold package". The phrase standard "cold package" was used heavily with Infiniti Canadian marketing campaign in both '93 and '94 (I've got a bunch of their Canadian print advertising sourced from Macleans and Canadian edition of Time as well as the Globe&Mail and TO Star). Maybe yours is not a "Canadian spec" model or if you purchased it used maybe the previous owner or dealer removed the original seats???

Its not a nob its a two position rocker switch. Its on the top of the side panel of the seat towards the door( the same side panel that contains switches to move and adjust your seats). The switch has got a light that lights up when the heated seat is activated. If you look straight down the side of the seat you can't miss it. It faces you. Its pretty big. Its in the same place on the passenger seat also.
