Hey guys, tonight while coming home, my passenger-side headlight (J30) would turn off for a few minutes then come back on, etc.

I know a common fix is to replace the headlight relay but how do you know if it's not just the bulb - maybe a lose filament?

When the passenger light turns off, alternating from low to high beam made no difference. There would be no passenger-side light in either low or high bearm. Aren't there two bulbs? One for low beam, one for high?

I'm guessing I just need to order that relay but I wanted to hear from the pros first.

Probably the easiest thing to check [relay].......open it up afterwards.

If it didn't make a difference between low and high, then it is more than likely the relay.

That's what I suspected. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem with my J - it's the relay.

Carlos,

I am having the exact same problem right now with my J. Except my high beam works but the low beam just kicks on and off.

How much does a relay run? Anyone know?

Is this a do it yourself type thing? If so, Carlos if you fix yours can you add it to your website.

Thanks,B

J-Owner, I have the instructions already posted on my site. I just wasn't sure if my problem was a bad bulb or the relay.

From the discussion on here, it's apparent that I need to replace the relay. I believe the relay costs around $40.

I had the exact same problem. I changed my relay and it works fine now.

By the way, your website helped me out big time. Thanks.

I got it from Infiniti of Lisle for around $40.
